The apartment is located in the former fisherman's quarter of Barcelona called Barceloneta. A short walk from the city centre, Barceloneta seems like a village in its own right. This manmade extension to the seafront was constructed to house the dislodged residents of La Ribera when the Ciutadella fortress (now transformed into the wonderful Ciutadella Park) was built in the XVIII century. Nowadays, the oceans' breeze blows through the narrow streets stirring up the laundry hanging from the balconies. Images of neighbors chatting with each other on street corners in the early afternoon provide a typical reflection of the local life, which many say is the most authentic of the city. You will find a lively, village-like atmosphere with a good choice of (mostly) seafood restaurants, tapas- and fisherman's bars. Barceloneta is situated alongside the beach and about 5 minutes walking to the Ciutadella Park and the cultural and hip El Born neighborhood (with the Picasso museum, many designer shops and clubs, etc). From your doorstep you can also take a walk along the Passeig de Colom and the Old Harbor towards the famous Las Ramblas with its human statues, portrait artists and flower sellers. The beach is literally down the street where you can stroll along the lively boulevard leading to the Port Ol’mpic and beyond towards the city's beaches and the new build Forum center.

Close to the apartment you will find the old harbour Port Vell, the beach of Barceloneta, the Torre de San Sebasti‡, where you can take the cable car to the Montjuic, a surf-board and sail boat renting company, Parc Ciutadella, the subway stop Barceloneta.
